Who we are

"Kin" ("we", "us") is the project behind the Kin app, currently in pre-launch development. Kin doesn't yet have a separate registered legal entity — the contact below reaches the person building it directly.

What we collect

• A name or nickname — whatever you're comfortable giving us, no legal name required
• Either an email address or a phone number, whichever you choose to provide when joining the waitlist

We only ask for one contact method, not both, so we don't hold more than we need. We do not collect your IP address, browser/device information, or any other technical metadata when you submit the form.

Why we collect it

We use your details to:

• Notify you when Kin launches
• Send occasional updates about Kin's development before launch (e.g. progress updates, beta invites)

We don't use your details for anything else, and we don't send unrelated marketing. Our legal basis for this processing is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given when you submit the waitlist form. You can withdraw consent at any time — see "Your rights" below.

Where your data is stored

Waitlist submissions are stored in a database we control directly, hosted on Cloudflare (D1, Cloudflare's serverless database product), reachable only through a small API we wrote ourselves. Cloudflare acts as our infrastructure provider/processor for this data — it doesn't use waitlist submissions for its own purposes, and data may be processed on Cloudflare's infrastructure outside your country, under Cloudflare's standard contractual safeguards for international transfers.

We don't sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep waitlist entries until three months after Kin launches, after which they're deleted. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over the data we hold about you, including the right to:

• Access the information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your information ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict or object to processing
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time (this won't affect processing that already happened)
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children

Kin's waitlist isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the project develops — for example, once a real backend or a registered company entity is in place. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
